Basics of Natural Pruning (Level 1)
In-the-field presentations & demonstrations w/
guided practice time support you to gain experience in reading the plant’s body language
and pruning to maximize health, beauty & strength.
Learn to Recognize the Basics:
- Proper cut angles & branch collar
- Age & growth rate of branch
- Flowering vs. vegetative wood
- Growth habits
- Plant architecture

Buildng Upon the Basics (Level 2)
Pre-Requisite: "Basics" Workshop or Private Lesson
In-depth Practice session w/ a specific focus gives you the opportunity for maximum hands-on practice as you learn to:
- Apply “Basics” principles to a topic of your choice. I invite you to suggest a topic.
For example:
Japanese maples, wisteria, or fruit trees
Hedge renovation, espalier, or early training
- Continue building your skills of reading the plant & crafting beautiful plant architecture
- Advance toward pruning proficiency thru multiple practice sessions
